Andrew Sterge

Member of the Board of Directors

Andrew became an independent director of the Company in 2022.

Prior to joining the Board, Mr. Sterge was portfolio manager for reinsurance funds sponsored by Magnetar Capital (2006-2010) and AQR Capital Management (2010-2017).  In connection with these efforts, Mr. Sterge served on the Board of Directors for Pulsar Re, Ltd., and AQR Re Ltd. 

The bulk of Mr. 
Sterge’s career has been dedicated to quantitative equity trading, starting with Cooper Neff & Associates (1989-2004.)  Mr. Sterge was Chairman and CEO of Cooper Neff from 1999 to 2004.  He and his partners sold the firm to BNP Paribas in 1995.  Currently, Mr. Sterge is CEO of Closed End Trading, LLC, an investment manager concentrating in closed-end funds.

 

Mr. Sterge earned a B.S. in mathematics from Wake Forest University, followed by a Ph.D. in mathematics from Cornell University.  His specific field of study was game theory.  Mr. Sterge is co-author of “Understanding Cat Bonds,” which appeared in the Summer 2016 issue of the Journal of Alternative Investments.
