Everest is looking for a risk consulting professional to work with our Middle Market and Wholesale Property Insurance programs to join our team as a Director, Risk Consulting Services. We are seeking experienced candidates who understand key loss exposures and controls for a variety of businesses and insurance coverages and have significant experience in developing and managing Risk Consulting services to reduce the cost of risk for our accounts. These efforts will include desktop reviews of prospective accounts, point of sale presentations, development and maintenance of report templates, survey instructions, service plans, model recommendations and reference materials.  In addition, the incumbent will assign work and manage independent service provider companies and consultants to assure the completion of quality risk assessments and services, delivered on time, cost effectively.  The incumbent will also be required to occasionally develop, prepare, and manage various publications including content for the department’s web pages as well as value-added services. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Completing desk top reviews and prospective business assessments
  • Development of loss estimates for prospective and existing accounts
  • Providing marketing support including materials and presentations and making point of sale presentations
  • Management of Risk Consulting services including surveys, risk improvement services, large loss reviews, recommendations, service plans and other work for assigned underwriting units through an out-sourced business model
  • Management of assigned independent Risk Consulting service providers and consultants
  • Identifying service needs and developing plans to meet these needs via new strategies, service tools or new service providers
  • Developing and maintaining report forms, service instructions, reference materials, training guides, service tools & model recommendations
  • Assuring the timely delivery of quality work cost-effectively, meeting department performance metrics
  • Developing and maintaining loss-focused recommendation compliance targets and driving service providers to achieve them
  • Development and management of publications and website content
  • Contributing to underwriting guidelines, researching, and managing emerging issues and assessing business and market opportunities
  • Maintaining existing value-added services or developing new services to meet customer expectations
  • Coordination of multi-location service for assigned policyholders
  • Responding to policyholder and producer requests for LC assistance.
  • Adhering to State Risk Consulting regulations and department procedures and policies
  • Participating in department initiatives & planning sessions to address emerging issues, business opportunities, and corporate directives
  • Assisting in the management and enhancement of the department’s work management software program.

Work Experience and Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years or more of Senior Property Risk Engineer/Account Engineer experience
  • Thorough knowledge of loss estimating and calculating PML, NLE, Amount Subject and similar loss scenarios
  • At least 10 years or more of managing or coordinating services through multiple consultants
  • Solid presentation skills and experience
  • Ability to work with large accounts, producers and underwriting partners
  • Possess strong writing, verbal, & interpersonal skills
  • Verifiable author of Risk Consulting articles, alerts, or other publications
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Nice to have: professional designation such as CSP, PE, CFPS, ARM, ALCM
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of available time

The role will be preferably base in Chicago, or it can be remote.

For CA and NYC:  The base salary range for this position is $130,000 - $165,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
