About the Role:
Everest’s Group Actuarial Practice and Analytics team has an opening for an Actuarial Analyst I as the team expands its Actuarial Independent Analysis (AIA) remit. This team, part of Enterprise Risk Management, acts as a critical challenge function for key parameters and core analyses performed by various actuarial areas in the firm. The challenge function aims to establish a point of view by going beyond typical data sources for a more robust set of indications. In addition, the Group Actuarial Practice and Analytics team has built a suite of analytical tools that use internal data to compute useful metrics and provide quantitative insights for both insurance and reinsurance. This position is based out our Warren, NJ or Stamford, CT office on a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office/2 days remote).
Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
Assist in identifying and analyzing relevant external data sources to challenge, compare, and contrast internal assessments of key parameters and core analyses.
Assist in researching, analyzing, and establishing a point of view on existing or new lines of business for Everest and further identifying pockets of potential profitability and / or pitfalls within a line. Use peer company data to supplement and complement findings.
Use coding skills to help enhance existing Group data tools and analytics while learning the context around the insights the tool is generating.
Help amass data from insurance and reinsurance teams for Groupwide reporting.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or related area
At least one actuarial exam, with the committed pursuit of actuarial credentials like ACAS, FCAS, FIA, or similar.
1+ years of professional actuarial experience
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
Proficiency in Excel and SQL is a must.
Power BI, Python, and/or R skills a plus.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills, strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Interest in building solid working relationships with peers, management and different business functions, collaborating across teams and regions, honing skills in both oral and written communication.
A business-oriented focus (motivated, self-directed, organized, intellectually curious, and analytical).
Flexible and responsive to dynamic business needs including tight turnaround times.
