Role Overview
Everest Insurance, a member of Everest Re Group, Ltd., has an opportunity for a highly experienced claims professional to join our Casualty Claims team in Warren, NJ (open to other locations). This highly experienced individual will handle the most catastrophic, high exposure, third-party Property and Casualty claims.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Building litigation team essential for aggressive defense of claims
Managing and directing outside counsel
Intimate collaboration with litigation team in developing litigation strategies
Reviewing and analyzing complex coverage issues and preparation of coverage position letters
Investigating, analyzing, and evaluating liability and damages
Preparing case summary reports related to matters of significant reserve and trial activity
Setting timely and appropriate case reserves
Developing and executing litigation and claim strategies as well as resolution strategies
Negotiating and resolving cases
Attending key litigation events, depositions, trials, mediations, and settlement conferences
Working with underwriters to support policy construction and drafting, reporting claim trends, data analysis, and risk assessments
Extensive communication with insureds, brokers, reinsurers, actuaries, and underwriters
Attending client meetings and industry functions to support retention and development of client relationships and business
Resource for development and training on litigation strategies, best practices, and talent developments
Candidate Profile
Qualifications, Education & Experience:
Extensive knowledge of the insurance industry, Property & Casualty landscape, claims process and legal and regulatory environment
15 years of claims handling experience and/or legal experience
In-depth knowledge of the litigation, arbitration, and trial process
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Robust negotiation and investigation skills
Ability to think strategically without the assistance of others
Strength to influence others and resolve complex, disputed claims
Ability to identify and use relevant data and metrics to best manage claims
Collaborative mind-set and willingness to work with people outside immediate reporting hierarchy to improve processes and generate optimal departmental efficiency
Proficiency to present multifaceted claims to senior management and to others in other group settings
Currently holds or readily can obtain all required adjuster licenses
B.A. or B.S. required; JD preferred
