The Underwriting Operations team of Everest Insurance Company of Canada, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd. is looking for a Underwriting Services Manager, to join our Toronto, Canada office.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Lead a team of Underwriting Assistants, that support all commercial business segments to uphold Everest Canada Insurance service standards and client experience to ensure they meet all operational SLAs and address any issues that may arise timely and effectively.

  • Dedicate up to 50% of time to the delivery of an Operation Portfolio, including processing submissions and endorsements, and executing policy construction and assembly in a timely and accurate manner, in accordance to defined guidelines.

  • Drive team performance: Fare distribution of work, coach employees, support their development, quality (QA) checks and effectively manage under performance.

  • Create and promote a collaborative and transparent team culture, that includes responsibility to recruit talent and successfully onboard new team members.

  • Drive a feedback culture by holding regular 1on1s with team members, providing both positive and constructive feedback on performance in order to identify growth opportunities.

  • Model Process Improvement Mindset by proactively identifying opportunities for change, enabling a culture for new ideas while ensuring sufficient project management and oversight to measure deliverables/progress.

  • Support and contribute to strategic projects and initiatives by contributing SME knowledge, offering Project Management support, and bringing in other team members, where relevant.

  • Ensure training materials and process workflow guides (collaborate with US operations) are developed and maintained to uphold and deliver the quality-of-service Everest Canada promises.

  • Cultivate and maintain stakeholder relationships across Operations and Underwriting in Canada, US and globally, to ensure open and transparent communication, proactive problem solving, timely responses and maintaining a Client Centric focus.

  • Translate Operations Bulletins for the team, bringing back key messages & learnings.

  • Oversee potential BPO relationship for the portfolio in the future if/when required.

Qualifications, Education & Experience:

  • Must be experienced as and Operations Manager and a Senior Underwriting Assistant.

  • Minimum 5+ years insurance experience, directly supporting the Policy Life Cycle with demonstrated understanding of the end-to-end value chain.

  • Experience in contributing to Process Improvement initiatives, acting as an SME.

  • Experience with Projects Management or Quality Assurance is a plus.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft software (Excel PIVOT Tables, Word, PowerPoint).

  • University degree or equivalent business experience required.

  • Action oriented & demonstrated sense of urgency to execute.
