Everest International Reinsurance, Ltd. – Australia branch (ABN 45 672 987 334) (Everest) is bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), its associated Australian Privacy Principles and other relevant legislation (Privacy Laws) when it collects and handles your personal information. Everest is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information. 

Everest collects, uses, discloses, stores and retains personal information in accordance with the Privacy Laws and our own policies and procedures. Our Privacy Policy can be accessed on our website or using the link below and is available upon request. Everest collects your personal information, including from insurance brokers, agents and other insurance intermediaries when you apply for, change or renew an insurance policy with us, or when we process a claim. If you do not provide Everest with your personal information, then Everest may not be able to provide you with insurance products or services or respond to a claim.

Everest is relying on you to provide this Privacy Statement to any other individual whose information is being provided to us. If you have given them this Privacy Statement, you must tell us before providing Everest with that information. 

Everest may use and disclose the personal information collected to other companies in the Everest group and to third parties for and in connection with purposes detailed above, including contractors and contracted service providers engaged by Everest to deliver its services or carry out certain business activities on its behalf (such as actuaries, loss adjusters, claims investigators, claims handlers, third party administrators, call centres and professional advisors, including doctors and other medical service providers), other companies within Everest, other insurers, our reinsurers, and government agencies (where we are required to by law) or for other purposes set out in our Privacy Policy. These third parties may be located outside of Australia. We may be required to disclose personal information under Australian law. When personal information is shared overseas, there is a possibility that whoever receives the information may be required to disclose it under a foreign law. 

Everest maintains appropriate physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect personal information. Everest secure our databases with various physical, technical and procedural measures, and we restrict access to your information by unauthorised persons. 

Encryption, and other methods are used to protect sensitive information. The method of protection is based on the sensitivity of the data that is shared with customers and other third parties under contract to do business with Everest

You consent to us using and disclosing your personal information as set out above.  This consent remains valid until you alter or revoke it by providing written notice to Everest’s Privacy Officer (contact details provided below). If you withdraw your consent, then Everest may not be able to provide the Insured with insurance products or services or respond to a claim.

From time to time, Everest may use your personal information to send you offers or information regarding Everest’s products and services that may be of interest to you. If you do not wish to receive such information, please provide written notice to Everest’s Privacy Officer.
