Larry A. Frakes, Executive Vice President to Retire from Everest

Everest Re Group, Ltd. (NYSE: RE) announced today that Larry A. Frakes, President, Everest National Insurance Company, has notified the Company of his retirement.

HAMILTON, Bermuda - February 1, 2007 -- Everest Re Group, Ltd. (NYSE: RE) announced today that Larry A. Frakes, President, Everest National Insurance Company, has notified the Company of his retirement.

Commenting on Mr. Frakes' decision, Joseph V. Taranto, the Company's Chief Executive Officer, stated: "We are grateful to Larry for his significant contributions to the Company over the years. He has been instrumental in developing our strong insurance operation and has positioned us well as we move into 2007. We wish him all the best." Thomas J. Gallagher, President and Chief Operating Officer, will manage the operation while the Company seeks a replacement.
