At Everest you aren’t just a number; you are empowered to do your job with the ability to make an impact and directly influence the organization. It is an exciting place to build a long and rewarding career.Gail Van Beveren
Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer
Why did you join Everest, and how has your role changed over time?
I originally joined the company as a Business Analyst in the IT Department when it was Prudential. At the time, I was joining a large organization and excited by all the opportunities that came with it. Opportunity has been a key theme of my career here at Everest.
Thanks to my role in IT, I was exposed to many different departments across the organization, including Human Resources, and was given the chance to change my career path and lead the HR function.
I learned from my team, my colleagues, and several amazing mentors as I ultimately advanced to the role of Chief Human Resources Officer.
The opportunities I have been presented with at Everest can be attributed to the core values that are integral to the company today: investment in people, collaboration, and access to senior management. Each of those values helped me get to where I am today in my career.
What keeps you at Everest?
Ever since I joined the organization more than 30 years ago, I have been a product of the Company’s willingness to invest in me. Whether it has been career advancement opportunities, senior management support, or the ability to have an impact in the work I am doing, I have always felt that people are our number one priority, and I have experienced this first-hand.
As Everest continues to grow and expand into new markets, the core of the company’s culture is growing and adapting with it.
At Everest you aren’t just a number; you are empowered to do your job with the ability to make an impact and directly influence the organization. It is an exciting place to build a long and rewarding career.
What does underwriting opportunity mean to you?
Underwriting opportunity means two things to me. First, it's our ability to serve our clients. Second, it's our ability to create an environment where our colleagues can grow, build their careers, and make a difference not only to our clients, but across all corners of the organization.
One of the great things about Everest that I hear time and again is that we're an organization where individual colleagues can get involved and influence outcomes. You don't get that opportunity everywhere, but you have that opportunity here and we encourage that level of involvement and engagement.
What excites you about the future of Everest?
I'm excited about the future because there's so much opportunity. Colleagues can take their careers in so many different directions. You can forge a path within Everest in underwriting, in claims, in technical roles, in roles dealing with people. I’m a prime example of this. And we're growing so rapidly that we're creating more and more opportunity for colleagues to influence outcomes, to influence their careers, to influence our clients, and to influence our industry. It’s never been a more exciting time to be part of the Everest team.
